How We Started

The Carriage Shoppes was founded in 2005 and updated with a new look and feel in 2020. We started as a local home decor and antique store in Elizabeth’s old blacksmith barn built-in 1889.  With over 20 local artisans and vendors, we have grown into the largest “anchor” store in the historic Main Street downtown area of Elizabeth.  With our new online store, we are now delighting our customers with many of our favorite brands.

Product types that I personally carry at the store, but not always online:

    1. Dog products (we actually have a dedicated space for our furry friends).  We sell Dog collars, leashes, treats, shampoo’s, toys, bandana’s, dog training products.  Like you Silly (freeze dried meat) is the hottest brand we sell.  Dogs go crazy over it.
    2. Baby products – 75% of the brands I buy are from Mud Pie Baby and Stephen Baby.  The focus is from Newborn to 2T.  We sell super cute baby clothes, items for the layette, toys, rattles, blankets, shoes, etc.  These products are my lowest sellers and need to promote somehow.
    3. Women’s Fashions – 75% of the brands we carry are from Endless Vibe (my daughters personal brand), Mud Pie Women, Coco + Carmen, and Pink Spur.  We have a great selection of costume jewelry with some high end jewelry.  We also carry popular handbags and wallets.
    4. Antiques – these are mostly for store pick up.
    5. Candles – Scented, pillars, tapers, and a variety.
    6. Home Decor – I buy all kinds of home decorations, florals, baskets, table top, and my most popular seller is anything Mud Pie.  We carry a lot of their serving dishes and more.
    7. Womens wellness products – I sell a lot of Naked Bee products.  I carry most of their line and have a dedicated space for it.
    8. Specialty Foods – I have 700 – 900 square feet dedicated to specialty food products and it is about 1/5 of our total sales.  My most popular line is Stonewall Kitchen because everything they make is fantastic.  I sell all kinds of branded Huckleberry products and Village Pie Maker frozen pies.  I sell an average of 50 pies per month.  We sell candy and peanuts, all kinds of sauces, baking mixes of all types, seasonings, cocktail mixes, salami’s and cheeses, etc.
